The week has been off to a good start with our team members recovering a total of four vehicles over the past two days.
On Monday morning at approximately 07h40 members of our Special Operations Team were activated to assist Matrix with tracking a red VW Polo that had been hijacked last week Friday in the Durban Central area.
Members immediately responded to the possible whereabouts of the wanted vehicle and after a short track, it was found abandoned and recovered in a vacant industrial building on Maplefield Place in the Springfield Park area by members of our Special Ops Team, Matrix Ground Team and Umlazi K9 Unit.
The scene was secured and will be investigated further by the SAPS.
On Tuesday morning at approximately 07h20 members of our Special Ops Team were yet again activated to assist Netstar with two vehicles that had been taken in a housebreaking incident in the Umkomaas area. On Monday night an unknown amount of suspects had broken into a resident’s house during loadshedding, stole the car keys, and made off with a silver Hyundia i20 and a charcoal grey BMW 420D. The homeowners only became aware of the theft of their vehicles at around 06h30 this morning whilst searching for their car keys to go to work.
Our members immediately responded to the last known locations of the wanted vehicles and within minutes from being activated both vehicles were found abandoned and recovered in the Newlands West area by members of our Special Ops Team assisted by the Netstar ground team.
Both scenes were secured and handed over to the SAPS for further processing and investigation.
Later that same day our Special Ops Team members were activated to assist with another track, this time with Tracker SA looking for a silver Toyota Hilux that had been stolen during a housebreaking in the Westbrook area by an unknown amount of suspects. The homeowners woke up and noticed that the vehicle was missing.
Our team members immediately responded and after a 30 minute track, the vehicle was found abandoned and recovered on Riverdene Drive, Newlands West by members of our Special Ops Team assisted by the Tracker SA Ground Team, the SAPS Provincial Trio Task Team and Umhlali K9 Unit.
The scene was secured and handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing.
