Proactive response by Marshall Security Armed Response Officers resulted in two suspects being apprehended in separate incidents, with stolen property recovered.
In the first incident, on Saturday morning at approximately 06h06, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received an alarm activation from a client’s premises on Anthony Road in the Umgeni Park area.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers noticed a suspicious individual exiting the premises carrying a braai. When questioned, the suspect claimed that the braai had been given to him by staff at the premises.
Finding the explanation suspicious, the officer detained the individual while the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre contacted the client to verify his claims.
It was subsequently established that the braai had not been given to the individual. The client confirmed that he wished to open a criminal case.

In a separate incident, at approximately 16h20 yesterday afternoon, information was shared on a WhatsApp Crime Alert group regarding three suspicious individuals walking along Columbia Road towards Queen Nandi Drive, carrying what appeared to be a metal slide.
Marshall Security Armed Response Officers were immediately dispatched and successfully located the three individuals on Temple Road in the Sea Cow Lake area.
During a search of the suspects, one of the individuals was found in possession of a vehicle battery.
The individuals were questioned regarding where they had obtained the items, and SAPS subsequently attended the scene to conduct further investigations and verify their explanations.
While the origin of the metal slide was established, one of the individuals was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation as to how he had come into possession of the vehicle battery.
In both incidents, Greenwood Park SAPS transported the suspects to the police station for further investigation and processing.
Marshall Security commends the vigilance and proactive approach of its Armed Response Officers, whose attention to suspicious behaviour and thorough follow-up resulted in two successful apprehensions and the recovery of stolen property.
These incidents once again demonstrate the value of alarm monitoring, proactive patrols, community information sharing, and close cooperation with SAPS in identifying suspicious activity and combating property-related crime within our communities.
