A suspect was found in possession of stolen items while our members were conducting extra patrols in the Durban North area this morning due to a recent increase of housebreakings in the area.
At approximately 07h35 vigilant members of our Special Operations Team noticed a suspicious person walking on Beachway. After noticing our members on patrol, they tried to avoid us by walking in the opposite direction.
As our members approached, the suspect attempted to flee but was immediately apprehended. Upon searching the bags that were in his possession, several items including a Playstation console was found. The suspect could not provide a valid explanation as to how he was in possession of the items.
Durban North SAPS were contacted and arrived on scene a short while later. They detained the suspect who will be charged for being in possession of suspected stolen items. If you have recently been a victim of a housebreaking, please report the incident to the police.
