Yesterday at approximately 10h44, the Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre was alerted by a vigilant member of the community to a suspicious male looking into properties via a WhatsApp Crime Alert group and was spotted walking on Balmoral Drive in the Durban North area.
The male was spotted by another private security company who escorted the male out of the area and shared a picture of the male, not knowing that the male was actually wanted by the SAPS.
Our Emergency dispatch Centre immediately noticed that the picture shared was of a suspect wanted for numerous house breakings and house robberies in the Durban North area as per CCTV footage supplied to the SAPS and Marshall Security Investigations Unit.
Our Armed Response Officers, our Special Operations Team and the Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit were immediately informed to be on the lookout for the suspect.
At approximately 11h30, the suspect was spotted on Old Mill Way in the Durban North area and was immediately apprehended by members of our Special Operations Team and Durban North SAPS Trio Crimes Unit.
Upon searching the suspect, the suspect was found in possession of suspected stolen items. The suspect could not provide our team members on scene with a reasonable explanation as to how he had the items in his possession.
The suspect was transported to Durban North SAPS for further investigation and processing and Marshall Security Investigations Unit will be assisting.
