In June, 247 incidents were reported to our Emergency Dispatch Centre. This is a 20% increase compared to the year-to-date average, with a 4% decrease on the incident rate we recorded last month. The top types of incidents throughout the month were housebreakings, theft of copper, theft and trespassings.

SUCCESSES

Throughout the month of June we arrested 14 suspects (on average we arrested a suspect every 48 hours) and recovered 15 stolen or hijacked vehicles. 💪

  • Dashcam Footage Of M4 High Speed Chase Resulting In Robber’s Arrest

A robbery suspect that was linked to numerous cases in the Umhlanga, Durban North, Morningside and Davenport areas was arrested after a high speed chase on the M4.

  • Suspects Arrested For Stealing Nebuliser From Local Pharmacy

Two suspects were arrested and various stolen items recovered when members of our Special Operations Team spotted a wanted Isuzu bakkie in the Umhlanga area.

  • Armed Response Officers Arrest Suspect On Non-Client Property

A suspect was arrested and charged for business break-in and theft after Armed Response Officers responded to the scene of a non-client property in Briardene in minutes, and caught the burglar still on the property hiding in one of the offices.

  • Incidents of fuel theft have been on the increase.
