In the first two weeks of June, 127 incidents were reported to our Emergency Dispatch Centre. This was approximately 6 incidents less than the incident rate we recorded during the first two weeks of May 2022. The top types of incidents throughout the month so far were thefts, housebreakings, trespassings and thefts of copper.
SUCCESSES
The month has been off to a good start, we have already arrested 11 suspects (on average we arrest a suspect every 36 hours), recovered 10 stolen or hijacked vehicles and recovered 4 stolen items. 💪
- Four Wanted Criminals Shot Dead, Two Arrested During Shoot-Out
Four wanted suspects were shot and killed and two others arrested during a shootout with Marshall Security and the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit. The armed gang had been linked to various business robberies, armed robberies and hijackings in the Durban North, Greenwood Park and Verulam areas.

Our Armed Response Officers responded to a call-out to a housebreaking in progress within 3 minutes, only to uncover a suspect hiding in the roof of the Durban North home he had previously stolen copper pipes from.
- Special Ops Team Save E-Hailing Driver Stabbed Multiple Times During Hijacking
An e-hailing driver’s life was saved after our Special Operations Team were called to assist and stabilise him on scene, after suffering several stab wounds during a hijacking in Greenwood Park.
- Wanted Suspect Arrested For Cable Theft Valued At R350,000
Stolen electrical cables to the value of approximately R200,000 were recovered and a wanted suspect arrested in a joint operation by members of our Special Operations Team and the SAPS Phoenix Trio Crimes Unit.
